Genealogy: Johnson, Smith, Herbert

I am researching my family names: JOHNSON from Dalston (Tyssen Arms 1850) Crawley/Hickstead area (1800-1844), Sarah SMITH from Crawley, sussex who married William Johnson, Edward and Elizabeth HERBERT from Shoreditch (who ran a dairy) whose daughter Emma married Thomas James Johnson of Stoke Newington (1866) son of William Johnson. The Johnson's William and his brother Joseph ran hotels/inns and so did their father Joseph in the 1700's. The George in Crawley, Rising Sun, Crawley, Castle Inn, Hickstead, White Heart, New Windsor. Any information that can be provided would be appreciated. I will visit London/Scotland during August 2005. (Also in Scotland, Glasgow area the family names are NAIRN, HORN, KIRKLAND, YOUNG. They were millers who moved to Canada in about 1888) Ran the Garrioch mills and Anderston mills in Glasgow.
