Looking for the parents names of two brothers born in Spitalfields London. They were both Glass cutters and at some time changed their surname from DAVIS to LEVINE.
John DAVIS b. 1831 married Sarah 1853 and his brother Edward Richard DAVIS b. 1814 married Ann.
My family believe that they might have decended from the Hoguenot Weavers.
In the 1881 Census they and their families lived at 15/16, Carter Street, Bethnal Green.
Edward Richard DAVIS/LEVINE had a son Edward Abraham Levine b 26 Nov 1836 married to Hannah Ferry in 1856 St Dunstan. Stepney. Her father was John Ferry a Carman. Still listed for 15 Carter St.
Their Son Richard LEVINE was b. 3rd March 1861 at 15, Carter St. Bethnal Green. He married Emma WALLS 29 May 1887 at the parish church Spitalfields, Whitechapel. Their address was 16 & 18 Pelham St. Richard was a commercial traveller.
Emma WALLS was b. 17 August 1863. 1, Pelham St. Mile End New Town. Father's name James WALLS and mother Mary Ann WALLS nee SMITH. James was a Carman by trade.
Their Son Edward Richard LEVINE b 1 May 1888 at 2 Princes St. Shorditch, Holywell. he married Ellie Dorothy NEWCOMEN 20th June 1925 Register Office West Ham Essex. Ellie NEWCOMEN was b 1902 daughter of Eliza SQUIRE b 1847 in IOW and Richard A NEWCOMEN b 1848 in Ireland.
Richard A NEWCOMEN was the son of Richard NEWCOMEN who was the Owner of the NEWCOMEN Bank in Dublin.
