GARDINER:
I am researching the Gardiner family - William
b. Dublin 1798-1800 - his wife Sarah (nee Shaw) b. 1796 London, their sons Irwin b. 1830 & George b. 1826 -
George's wife Rosa (maiden name unknown but possibly Matilda Eason or Eaton, Rosa being stage name) George & Rosa had a
son William b. Shropshire, 1852.
At the time of the 1851 British Census, this family (occupation for all 5 - comedians) were living at No. 1 Great Charles Street, Birmingham. William Snr. and Sarah emigrated to Australia in 1858 with the grandson William (age 6 at that time).
Because this family were involved with the theatre, I only have the census records to go by as I have not been able to find births, deaths or marriages as I don't know where they came from if census information is not correct. Have searched London/Middlesex Birth, death & marriage records on the IGI familysearch index for all except William Snr. but nothing found to date.
William Snr. seems to have been born in Ireland but no record of names of parents.
I have records for all 3 who came to Australia but cannot trace George, Rosa or Irwin.
Also discovered Sarah had 2 children surname possibly Welsby - born prior to the Gardiner marriage.
Any information or suggestions to help find the missing Gardiners would be much appreciated.
