I'm researching my JEFFERSON family of Southwark and Bermondsey area and i'm keen to hear from anyone who may be related or have something they think may be useful or interesting. I'm descended from Joseph Jefferson (of the Parish of St. Mary Magdalen) who married Martha Rawlins (of the Parish of St. Mary Rotherhithe) in 1733 at St. Katherine's by the Tower. Joseph (ca.1710-1792) & Martha (ca.1712-1765) had at least fourteen children who apart from the first born, Joseph, were christened at St. Mary Magdalen.

There children in order of birth are: Joseph, William, Edward, Jonathan (John), Jane, Sarah, William, Eleanor, Martha, Thomas, Samuel, William, David & Robert all born from 1735-1762. Joseph, the eldest, was christened at St. Katherine's by the Tower.

Their third child, my direct line ancestor, was Edward Jefferson (ca.1740-ca.1812) The family lived in Long Lane, Southwark for many years through the mid to late 1700's. Joseph was a 'carpenter' and Edward became a 'leather-seller' and a thriving businessman. When in his early thirties, he married Mary Yates (neé CRIPPS) around 1770 in Newport Pagnell, Bucks (his new wife's parish) before he departed the city life for Newport Pagnell, where his only son William Jefferson married Elizabeth Osborn and they went on to have many children.

Are there any descendants out there from any other lines?

Hoping to hear from someone someday.
