I have a George Sansom, butcher, convicted in 1829 at the Old Bailey in London, who said he was from Sunderland, (we can't find any sign of him or his parents there! George Sansom & Ann Edmonds ). George was transported in 1830 to Van Diemans Land & married there in 1834. We don't know where he learnt his trade but he ran the "Blue Flag Butchery " in Ballarat Victoria. Can you help? Have you come across this name for a butchery in London? Are there any apprentice records?
